What better creative person to write this other than your very own Content Creator and well known Marketing Director in South Florida, Jeanell Neat. Currently providing businesses and nonprofits with Branding, Planning and Consultation services, as well as serving as an advocate for Mental Health Awareness in the community. Born in Miami and raised in Miramar, a city conveniently close to where people vacation. Here is where I’ve spent all of my youth playing sports in schools, singing in the choir in church and painting the walls of my home characters from Disney.
From then, I’ve always been pretty creative if I do say so myself. Using the tools I had at hand and teaching myself how to draw, making sculptures out of clay with my bare hands and exploring the very different media types of art including digital art and web design. To continue this venture, I moved to Orlando to study Character Animation with dreams of working for Disney, Marvel or even curating my own animated series. It was after 1 year of taking art classes and building on my art portfolio, I had convinced myself the probability of getting accepted into the Character Animation program would be slim. I must’ve seen this coming because lucky for me I was a double major and was studying Marketing as well.
At the end of the day, besides exploring art for fun, I always knew I would have my own business one day. While in school I worked full time in high-end retail department stores like Dillards, Nordstrom and Steinmart, here is where I really learned the concept of Customer Service and not to mention my style in fashion. When all was said and done, I graduated from University of Central Florida with a dual degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Immediately post graduation, I was hired by Enterprise Inc., as a Manager in Trainee after traveling back down to my hometown to partake in 3 long interviews, all done in separate trips might I add. Imagine driving 3.5 hrs for an interview, let alone 3 times! Well I did and got the opportunity to start my journey working in a competitive corporate environment right from the start. Although this was not my first job, it would be the first to make a great impact on molding me into the business professional I am today.
Granted I was 1 of 10 top sales representatives for 4 consecutive months, the pay was great and so were the benefits, but something told me I didn’t want to be working long hours doing sales for the rest of my life. As one door closes, I took every opened door as an opportunity to level up each time. My intention has always been to be a sponge to obtain as much knowledge as possible so that when it is my turn to operate my own business, I’d have the tools I needed to be successful. After Enterprise, the next pivot point in my life would be when I accepted a job offer at Boston Retail Solutions over the Boys and Girls Club. At the time, it felt like one of the hardest decisions I had to make in my life. It's not until yesterday-ago I came to understand that I was not mentally prepared to manage over 20 facilities as a Marketing Director at the time, if we’re being honest. I had just graduated and my background was in Customer Service and Sales by then.
Boston Retail Solutions turned out to be the better choice to learn Account Management, Project Management, Research & Development, Printing, Marketing, all of which I rely on heavily today. I spent 3 productive years working amongst Marketing teams from some of the largest brands in the country like American Eagle, Lululemon, Lush Cosmetics, Under Armor, and so many others. Being faced with so many different challenges while working there were all for the betterment of my ever growing journey in the workforce. This work experience would be what led me to onboarded a new client to the market, Dyson, a technology company from the UK. I took care of all of their new construction projects here in the States, as well as Canada, and got them to agree to a $50,000 proposal I had compiled on my own. This transaction led me to have the confidence I needed to start my own LLC.
With my many experiences, I think it's safe to say I am an entrepreneur by default. I am also the founder of CXLI, a digital marketing agency that helps companies build their brand to attract visitors, convert leads, and close lucrative deals. Building New Foundations for the Future, brings your visions to life with colors, design and strategy. No task is too big or small. I am prepared and able to find business solutions for my clients in today’s on-going changing market.
